As a first time home buyer, I was very intimidated by the entire process, and particularly nervous about the mortgage process.  However, Gavin was able to put my nerves at ease almost immediately.

I had shopped around for rates and competitive offers for quite some time, and finally turned to Gavin at my real estate agent’s recommendation.  Of all the shopping I did, Gavin was able to meet or beat any of the offers my competitors provided for both closing costs and rates.  He was kind enough to meet me on my lunch hour near my office to explain everything I would need to know and have, and was always prompt and courteous in answering any questions I had after our initial meeting.  In addition, Gavin always kept me advised of any interest rates changes, which ensured me that Gavin had my best interests at heart.  In addition, my closing costs came in even lower than originally quoted, which was a pleasant surprise and a perfect ending to a process that went much smoother than initially planned, thanks largely in part to Gavin and his willingness to always help.

In the future, I would not hesitate to work with Gavin again, and would recommend him to anyone else going through the home buying process.  It was truly a pleasure to work with someone who was looking out for me during a transaction that can be so intimidating.  Thanks, Gavin!

I talked to at least 4 other mortgage lenders/brokers before settling on Gavin. I appreciated that he was very straightforward and helpful throughout the first-time homebuyer process, and didn't take advantage of my lack of knowledge. All the other companies would advertise a lower loan rate, but, in examining the closing costs, I would find that I was actually paying for points to buy down the loan (disguised cleverly midst loan origination and closing fees)! With Gavin, this wasn't the case.

Further, the loan origination costs were more than competitive, and Gavin was there for me for all my hundreds of phone calls and questions. He was also helpful with relevant advise not pertaining to just mortgage and lending. Not only that, but I benefited a lot through the simple fact that Gavin is both broker AND lender (this can eliminate the cost to close, various notary fees, etc. - all things that really add up).

I have already advertised Gavin to my friends and family looking for a home. All in all, he helped the process go as easily, cheaply, and efficiency as I could hope for.

Gavin Ekstrom was recommended to me by my real estate agent, though I was already working with an agent that a friend had recommended.  Gavin was able to come through with a very competitive rate from the very beginning, and I quickly switched to working with Gavin for pre-approval.  Gavin was very kind to come out to the house on a Sunday, drive up to Boulder to meet me on my lunch break, or whatever I needed.  He also spent a good deal of time on the phone with my parents and reminded us every step of the way so we did not forget anything, or miss any deadlines.  Gavin was even able to move up our closing date on very short notice so my parents could be here for the closing.  We really appreciate all of Gavin's help with every step of this process.

We are first time home buyers. We attempted this scary process, knowing that our economy was not proving stable, according to the TV News and Newspapers. We felt that it was the right time for us financially and emotionally.
 
Our first move was going online to see what program was available for our needs. My husband filled out an online application and we got a response that following day. That was the beginning of our journey in searching out our "ideal" home. We immediately had an appointment with Keller Williams, met our Real Estate Representative and finally met with Gavin Ekstrom, our professional Mortgage Broker. My first impression was that this kid was just out of High School. Gavin Ekstrom was likeable from the start with his warm friendly smile and sincerity. He proved he knew the mortgage business by answering our questions and putting us at ease. I am still in awe that this whole process went so smooth. Gavin Ekstrom was able to let us know at this first meeting what price range we were eligible for, the best type of loan for us, our credit score and just made us feel comfortable and important. Appointments were made right away to view several homes, of which, we found the right one for us. He made sure there were no surprises along the way. Communication was key with him whether it was an email or phone call, at any time. We made an offer, which was accepted the following day. An appointment was made for inspection, which went smooth, and we were well on our way to closing. All of these events transpired within one week.
 
This has been a wonderful experience for both of us. I would recommend this team to anyone in search of that "one special" home. This is our dream come true. We will look to Gavin Ekstrom when we are eligible to refinance and for that next home.

First of all thank you for helping Cara and I realize a dream and get into a house.  Although there were ups and downs during the process we found out first hand why Cheri trusts and recommends you. 

As you know our house purchase experience was a trying one at times, but through everything we always looked to and trusted your opinion.  When we first called you trying to get conventional financing after working with another lender, you showed us how hard you were willing to work for us by finding us a conventional program with good terms and low money down.  Even though I am sure you were busy at that time it felt like you dropped everything to find us a program that would work and help to get us into that house.  Even though that purchase didn’t work out that experience proved to us that you were the right choice.  

Then when the Hawaii property appraised for under the sale price you were honest and open about your feelings on moving forward with that property, which was very refreshing in that situation.  You knew how emotional we were into that house and instead of telling us what we wanted to hear you urged us to move on. 

When we finally got into a house and closing day came around you again showed us your generosity and your willingness to help us.  We were on a time crunch and you told Cara and I to leave the closing early to get to our prior arrangement and you stayed and picked up the copies of the closing docs and dropped them off where we were at. 

In the future if there is ever anything that we can do in return for you please let us know.  It has truly been a pleasure to work with you and you can expect us to refer anyone we know purchasing a house as well as return when we need to refinance or move into a new place.

                Park Capitol Mortgage, collectively, and Gavin Ekstrom, through his personal production, was consistently one of our top producing Brokers.   There was never an occasion in which Irwin Mortgage was required to request indemnification or repurchase of any loans from Gavin or Park Capitol Mortgage.
